Hot off the heels of the Formula RTA series, where we had over 36 drivers register and race with us, we are delighted to be hosting yet another exciting series. This time the RTA grid returns to “Tin Tops”! In the past, we have hosted GT3, LMP2, BTCC, and MX5 saloon championships, and in true RTA fashion, we have once again gone for something completely new The GT1 series of cars.

The cars available to drivers are the Aston Martin DBR9-GT1 and the Corvette C6-R 2. These cars although being polar opposites are perfectly matched on track! Our admin team and series director Peter McCann have been hard at work over the last number of weeks testing and perfecting setups that would keep the cars as even on track as possible meaning it’s all down to the person pedaling it around the track.

The Aston is without a doubt one of the best-sounding cars on the iRacing platform and seems to be the more stable and driver-friendly of the two cars. It’s built from an aluminum frame with Carbon fiber bodywork and although it bears resemblance to the road-going DB-9, it’s an entirely different animal on track. This car is a monster! With a 6-liter, 48 valve V12 that screams up to incredible revs, it’s certainly going to be a treat to watch and drive.

The other car available to GT1 competitors is the Corvette, this car seems to be tailored more toward the experienced tin-top driver who knows how to perfectly balance the car on the limit. If driven correctly, the car will really reward its driver… If not, you’ll be stuck in the gravel or worse, watching everyone drive by. The corvette boasts a 7-liter V8 that sounds just as good as you would expect it to.

Round 1 kicks off this Tuesday 9th of August at 9:00 PM Irish time. Live coverage of round 1 at Interlagos will be provided by the brilliant Global Sim Racing group, A link will be available over on the RTA Facebook page or in our discord server!
